I can’t tell the difference either...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This Beetle definitely did not have a stock engine, as it had a single exhaust on the left side (you can make it out in the wheel detail pic), and the little exhause cutouts were unoccupied. I wanted to stay and ask the owner what was in there instead, but alas, no time as I had to get back to the office.

Sorry for the shit pics. Again, I was in a hurry and only noticed the Porsche wheels at the last moment.

I’m really hoping there is an air cooled Porsche engine in there. Did that thing have the same wheels all around?

I’m imagining standard VW setup up front and a Porsche drivetrain & rear suspension.

That’s exactly what I was hoping for too! But sadly we will never know...

But yes, same wheels all around, but not sure if they were staggered or not. No time to check tire sizes..

it might just have a fancy exhaust, didn’t mean it has a Porsche engine. At best it might have a decent powerful VW type 4 engine

Oh I know. The porsche engine thing is just a hope. I wish I could’ve asked the owner though, as I’m definitely curious.

It takes some work to convert a Type I to five lugs. Might have a Porsche setup.

Or just re drill the drums. Not the best way, but you don’t have to worry about studs on these cars.

This Super Beetle is Subaru EJ22 powered. My buddy built it and sold it to the current owner.
